Analysis of the water-food nexus for food security in a high Andean Community

Abstract Water and food are facing increasing demand worldwide. This increase is significant in mountainous regions where glaciers melting, water availability danger. Food has also increased with the population growth. study sought to evaluate relationships between supply a community located Peruvian Andes region. The developed methodology reveals practical way identify future problems availability. was evaluated using historical precipitation data. On other hand, estimated meteorological Irrigated areas were determined 2019 agricultural data from local government. consumption per capita regional consumption. Results show deficit for current ten out of twelve months. potato main crop being produced community, among sixteen studied crops. A high percentage time, many products found do not satisfy demand. For example, secure only fifty-five percent total local-demand fifty time. Current results can help management security.
